Rare 1930's Paper Mache "Three Little Pigs" Hand Puppets - WPA Museum Extension Project

Product Description:  A fantastic opportunity to own this trio of “Three Little Pigs” papier mache hand puppets crafted in the Works Project Administration (WPA), a program that employed people on relief during the depression era.  Puppets such as these were designed to encourage students to create plays using the characters.  This collection a fine example of artistic work from a division which originated from this program. One pig is marked on the inner fabric with the WPA stamp.  Featuring hand-crafted papier mache heads and hands with painted features.  The body is an empty form with a lovely crafted cloth costume. A collection which is ideal for teaching early learning or to acquire as a piece of history.

Markings:  WPA Museum Extension Penna (stamped on bottom underside of cloth outfit) of center pig.  No visible markings on other two pigs.

Condition:  Previously owned – used.  Condition is consistent with age and use and are fragile.  Some scrapes, scratches and wear on papier mache heads.  Indentation on front and back of pig in green.  Edges of most all ears either show wear or are separating.  The right ear on the pig in green has the most wear and is beginning to bend.  Cloth outfits show slight discoloration, wear and folds.  Refer to photographs.
