Old Black Painted Wooden Storage Keepsake Box
Description: This antique wooden box was once Mary and Esther’s, possibly used as a storage or keepsake box. In rectangular form, it still retains much of its original black paint and hardware with normal wear and tear from years of use. Handwritten names on the underside of the lid adds a touch of character and history to this piece. Functional for photos, documents, candles, small tools and more.

Markings: Mary Gutman (?) and Esther Gutman (?) (underside lid – right side), Mary and Esther’s box (underside lid – bottom left corner). Spelling of last name may not be accurate. Additional handwriting in pencil is upside down on the underside.
Origin: United States. Acquired in the Northeastern region.
Condition: Used. Condition is commensurate with age. Front latches function. Wear in the form of scratches and paint loss in areas. Area on front with paint wear, possibly from a sticker or other. Back has an area where it came in contact with newer paint or glue. Lid folds down towards back. Lid has a crack although still very strong. Missing one 2 1/2 inch section of wood bottom right side.
