Antique Victorian Highly Decorated Collar and Cuff Box with Drawer
Description: Collar boxes were once used to store men’s removable collars and cuffs from their shirts when not in use. This charming collar box most likely from the Victorian era is made of wood, covered with decorative paper and embellished with embossed front edges on the hinged lid and body. One pull-out drawer located in the platform may have been used to store collar studs and bar pins. What makes this special is two applied portraits outlined with a tin applique. On the lid is a girl holding a bouquet of flowers with a spray in her hair. The front of the box is a beautiful scene of two ladies in a canoe, one using a paddle and the other playing an instrument.
