Antique General Store Biscuit Tin Bin, Glass Panel, CRESO, The Hitchner Biscuit Company

Product Description:  Cresco Biscuit Tin Boxes similar to this, once held cookies and crackers made by Hitchner Biscuit Company in West Pittston, Pennsylvania.  Displayed and sold in country stores, this hinged biscuit box with a glass window panel stands 9 ¾ inches tall.  Remnants of the original, worn label is still intact.  The back features embossed lettering; “This can is the property of The Hitchner Biscuit Company”. A nostalgic piece of history from a biscuit manufacture dating back to the later 1800’s.

Condition:   Previously owned - used.  Age darkening on most sides with indentations.  Front panel is either brass or copper with heavy age darkening.  Some areas of rust, mostly around hinges or seam areas.  Left hinge is "unattached" from the lid and must apply slightly more pressure for lid to snap and stay down.  No cracks in glass front.  Still a functional piece for other uses.
