Antique Bookbinders Brass Roller Tool by Hoole Brooklyn, NY, ~ Late 1800's
Product Description: Back in the 18th century, book binding was much different involving more labor and time to produce than it does today. This late 1800’s large finishing tool with a rotating brass wheel is a fantastic collectible. Manufactured by Hoole Machine & Engraving Works, Inc, Brooklyn, N.Y., this roll was just one type of tool used to add finishing decorative details to the leather on book covers. Incised on the wheel are the markings of a key 19th century American manufacturing finishing tool supplier, Hoole Machine and Engraving Works, Inc., Brooklyn, New York.
