Antique Temple Spectacles with Original Tin Case c. 1810-1830

Product Description:  Whether you’re a collector of early spectacles or just looking for some nostalgia for your display cabinet, this pair of early Temple Spectacles with the original, hinged, flip-top tin case will strike up some conversation.  This pair is the real thing which features a round-framed form, “C” bridge and small, round, ring ends.  Cords were sometimes tied onto these ends to rest behind the head. Although it is not known who, where or when exactly these collectibles were worn, the style of temples and ends dates them around 1810-1830.

Note:  Due to lighting, spectacles appear slightly lighter in color than actual item.

Markings: No visible markings.  Due to the surface condition, markings could not be found or identified on the spectacles or case. 

Color:   Dark gray (Due to surface patina)

Condition: Pre-owned used.  Temples, frame has moderate surface patina.  One (right side) glass is "cracked" (as shown).  Tin case has aged patina, pitting and a hole on left side of lid (as shown).  Does snap shut properly.  Markings, signatures, dates cannot be identified due to condition and surface patina.  Hinge on lid functions properly.
